Dentzman, Epply, & Olenek Help Build a House in Belize

The summer of 2009 changed the lives of some of the members of the Saint Xavier University women's cross country and track team, after their week long service trip to Belize.  Lauren Dentzman, Dana Epply, and Krista Olenek went to Belize to help build a home for a family.   "My group built a house for a family, a woman with two children and a baby on the way" commented Dentzman.  "Before we helped build the house, they were living in an old shack that was honestly falling apart."  Read More  

SXU Track Runner goes on Service Trip to Nazareth Farm

During Spring Break of 2010, Barb Roman, member of women's cross country and track teams, went on a service trip to Nazareth Farm (Naz Farm) in Salem, West Virginia.  Throughout the week, Roman helped out at three different sites: building a shed, doing insulation for a trailer, and demolition to a partially burned house.  She decided to go on the trip because many of her friends had gone in previous years and talked so highly of their experience.  "Really, it was an impulsive move on my part, but definitely one of the best decisions I have made at Saint Xavier," said Roman.   Read More

Women's Basketball player, Brittany Jones donates "Meal Money" to Pro Labore Dei

Saint Xavier University Women's Basketball player, Brittany Jones, decided a few years ago that she would spend her extra meal money left over at the end of the semester her Freshmen year, on food that would be donated to Pro Labore Dei.  Whatever money the students do not use on their meal plan, they do not get back.  Most students will stock up on gatorades or candy and chips, but Jones decided she would put this money to better use.  Read More

Women's Volleyball player, Ashley August Volunteers on a Service Trip

Ashley August has been a member of the Women's Volleyball team for the past three years.  During this time, she has participated in many Student Organizations, including Red Cross, and has graciously volunteered her time on a service trip over her Spring Break, at the Darst Center in Chicago.  This trip is run by the Sisters of Mercy.  She decided to go on this trip not only for personal interest, but also for service credit in her "God and Social Action" class.  Read More

SXU Women's Soccer helps out at S.T.A.T Brown Bag Project

On Feb. 23rd, 2011, some of the members of the Saint Xavier University Women's Soccer team volunteered their time to helping out at the S.T.A.T. Brown Bag Project.  S.T.A.T. stands for "Service Through Action Team."  The mission for this project was to make "brown bag" lunches to donate to local community shelters.  Read More
